Small Bathroom Remodeling Ideas to Soak In

Some of us are stuck having a small bathroom. For the less than rich and famous, small bathrooms are a fact of life for city living, apartment living, second bathrooms, half bathrooms and living or vacationing in cozy little bungalows. A well-thought out remodeling plan can make the most of every square inch and still incorporate beautiful design plans.

Your bathroom sink might not be as important as the toilet or bathtub, but it can certainly make a dynamic impression. Pedestal sinks take up very little of your precious bathroom floor space. Suspended sinks are equally adept at saving space instead of stealing space

If you love bathroom drawers, try centering a narrow pedestal sink between two tall thin drawers. You'll create lots of storage and still have enough countertop space for daily bathroom amenities or splashy bathroom accents. Because the space under the sink is open, you create a perception of depth which counteracts the feeling of smallness. You also have room for a small wastebasket or colorful planters with green foliage.

If you prefer counter space to drawers, you can use a small desk with an open base to house a pedestal sink, and you'll have an instant counter and convenient linen storage in one (somewhat) easy step. Desks can be dark, slim and sleek, or natural wood for an earthier touch.

If you crave endless amounts of storage space, built-in recessed shelving and/or drawer space instantly enlarges the bathroom and provides ample storage. If you're still scrounging for storage, don't let any side of a fixture go unshelved or unused. Your bathroom may still look small, but it will certainly not feel small.

An often over-looked place for storage is the walls attached to the bathtub enclosure. Narrow box-beam shelves can be attached to the bathtub walls. Using mirrors and glass shelves are ancient tricks used to deceive the perceptive eye, and a recessed medicine cabinet saves a jutting boxy structure from stealing too much space. Or opt for a hanging oval-shaped decorative mirror instead of the traditional medicine cabinet.

Remodeling a small bathroom is not a small project, but there is always huge potential if you take the time to soak in creative ideas that fit every nook and cranny of your bathroom remodeling project.
