Since the first pre-historic era fire in a cave, the kitchen has been the center of the home. Since the kitchen is the soul and life of a house, it is no wonder that it should be the best decorated. Sadly, men build houses and they often are clueless on what makes a great kitchen. Women, of course, do have say when buying a house, but few women truly know what they want out of their kitchen until they begin using it.

If your are like most people, you have don’t have celebrity chefs designing your kitchen. Paula Deen’s (Food network star) show is filmed in her kitchen, in her house. She designed a kitchen that not only satisfied her needs for home, but also was good enough, and even better, than what the TV execs could get for her. She has a deep fryer, a built in grill, and many other great toys many of us only dream about.

To start out, you should draw your dream kitchen and establish a budget. Once you have your idea on paper, you are then able realistically begin moving forward. Since we are not all incredibly wealthy, it is key to staying within your budget. You don’t want to hate your kitchen because it cost you too much; a kitchen should always remain a place of warmth.

If you like an old-school retro look, you should consider checking out antique stores for remodeling ideas. There are many stores that completely refinish antique stoves, tables, and cabinets, giving you an abundance of goodies to play around with. Of course, since many of us like a more modern look, most appliance stores should have everything you need for your kitchen-remodeling project.

Having a small house should not deter you from remodeling your kitchen. Focus your remodeling on creating a kitchen that not only looks good, yet specifically meets your needs. You should consider getting smaller appliances, for more wiggle room on the actual remodeling of the kitchen. Make sure to make logical decisions on the placement of cabinets, counters, and appliances in your kitchen. For example, why do builders make cabinets so high? Unless your seven feet tall, your not going to be using those cabinets for anything but storage space.

Unless you don’t cook, you’ll probably notice things that will need change. With a kitchen remodeling plan, and a kitchen remodeling budget structure, change is very possible. Remember to dream big, use all your resources, and make your kitchen a reflection of your personality. That, and remember to have a great time doing it! If your not having fun with it, your probably doing something wrong.
